Yuri Utkin

Yuri Utkin (B.Arch., C.Arch.Pres.) joined GBCA in 2019 and has been involved in numerous conservation projects, where he conducts site reviews, undertakes building condition assessments, and produces construction documents.  Yuri is currently part of the team responsible for the multi-year renovation and refurbishment project of the Macdonald Block governmental complex in Toronto and completed site reviews for the recent Massey Music Hall revitalization project.

 

Prior to working at GBCA, Yuri was a heritage architect and architectural team leader at a state heritage restoration agency based in Minsk, Belarus.  There he led conservation work on civic and ecclesiastical heritage buildings, some of which were recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

 

Yuri holds a Diploma of Architect (Bachelor of Architecture equivalent) from the National Technical University of Belarus (1998) and a Certificate in Architectural Preservation and Conservation from Toronto Metropolitan University (2015). Yuri is a member of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario.  He is fluent in Russian, Belarusian and English.
