John Payne

John Payne, B.Arch.Sc., joined GBCA in 2017.  With his degree in Architectural Science and a certificate in architectural preservation and conservation from the Toronto Metropolitan University, John was well positioned to play a lead role on building assessments and construction documents.  He assists with the preparation of Conservation Plans and undertakes site reviews and reporting.  Currently John is an integral part of the team working on the multi-year renovation and refurbishment project of the Macdonald Block governmental complex in Toronto.

Prior to working at GBCA, John was a site supervisor for a design and build company in Toronto, where he focused on residential construction and renovation projects. Outside of work he is interested in photography and woodworking – his woodworking expertise led to the construction of a 9’ Roubo workbench using only hand tools and eighteenth-century designs documents from the French carpenter and cabinetmaker, Andre Jacob Roubo’s L’Art du Menuisier.
