Emad Ghattas, M.Arch, MRAIC, OAA, CAHP is a Senior Associate at GBCA with a decade of expertise in the conservation and reuse of historic buildings. At GBCA, Emad guides clients through municipal approvals for development projects that require a balance of heritage conservation and intensification. He prepares reports for associated heritage resources and coordinates with architectural teams and consultants. Recent projects include the reconstruction of the Silver Dollar Room in Toronto (a project that won a CAHP Award of Merit) and the heritage portion (nineteenth century commercial building facades) of the new Google headquarters on King Street East in Toronto.
Prior to joining GBCA in 2014, Emad worked at EVOQ Architecture (previously FGMDA) in Montreal, assisting with the restoration of the West Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
Emad holds a B.Sc. (Arch) from McGill University and a M.Arch from the University of Waterloo. He is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), the Association for Preservation Technology (APT), the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP), the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and is actively involved with the Toronto Society of Architects (where he leads walking architecture tours) and the CAHP Advocacy Committee. He is fully fluent in French and English.
