While often considered a challenge by many, for GBCA the integration of heritage resources within new development is an exciting opportunity for recognizing the heritage value of an historic place and managing change in a creative and useful way. GBCA prepares required heritage documents and assists with obtaining approvals for site plan and building permits. Our collaboration with project teams continues by providing heritage related construction documents at later phases of the project, including integration of building systems into existing heritage fabric. GBCA’s expertise in restoration technology provides invaluable service to the design team throughout the design and construction phases of projects.
With our expertise in heritage documentation, GBCA has become a key team member in collaborative ventures with other firms to produce planning documents such as cultural landscape inventories, urban design guidelines and master/feasibility plans. We also deliver functional programming services and feasibility studies that become important tools for the development of an architectural and/or rehabilitation project. These studies allow for a thorough consideration of the wants and needs of the clients, along with a rigorous analysis of the existing building, or buildings on site. By engaging the stakeholders associated with the projects, we ensure that the ultimate scope of work will have a clear direction from the outset.
