Informed by our interdisciplinary team of experts, GBCA prepares building assessments, or condition assessments (also known as Historic Structures Reports), Conservation Plans (CP) or Conservation Management Plans (CMP), and provides construction administration services.
The documents provided through our technical consulting services synthesize the significance of an historic place and provide guidance on the retention of heritage values through effective interventions, long term conservation, and maintenance measures. These plans facilitate sustainable stewardship decisions by requiring an understanding of what matters and why before major decisions are made. Prepared by members of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP), our reports benefit from the multi-disciplinary nature of the firm providing value-added expertise in archival research, materials conservation and building science. Our experience includes buildings of vastly different sizes and uses, as well as a variety of construction techniques.
Assessments of condition and conservation and management plans are sometimes prepared in combination with other consultants—structural, mechanical, or electrical engineers, quantity surveyors, code consultants, are just some examples. GBCA can arrange, on behalf of our clients, for the supply of other services that may be required on a case-by-case basis, such as equipment to provide access to the building elevations.
