This study was initiated by the Canada Science and Technology Museum Canada Museum of Science and Technology to define the immediate and long-term growth of the Canada Agriculture Museum (CAgM) Canada Museum of Agriculture (CMA) located at the Central Experimental Farm (CEF), Ottawa. The museum had taken over operations of the Showcase show herds previously managed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada in the mid-1990s. Following the initial success of programming activities, and a fire which caused the loss of two key buildings, a competition for design was held which was won by Christopher Borgal Architect Inc. in association with Barry J Hobin Architects and Steven Torrance Landscape architect of Ottawa. The Master Plan was written primarily by Christopher Borgal with graphic assistance by the other firms and included definitions of site and building character, examination of previous planning studies for the CEF and options for development. The Plan was completed in March of 2000.
Subsequently, GBCA recently submitted additional reports needed for this national museum.
