Black Creek Pioneer Village

In order to plan for the ongoing stewardship of the buildings on site, Toronto Conservation Authority, Black Creek Pioneer Village, requested that a detailed study and architectural assessment of eight existing village buildings be undertaken.

Our study, intended as a model for similar studies in future, first established the context for any work; setting down a set of operational conservation guidelines. We then went on to review the history of the buildings on site and their integrity as artifacts. Our next step was to review their existing condition, highlighting, prioritizing and costing necessary repairs and finally, the report suggested guidelines for on-going maintenance procedures.
