Black Creek Pioneer Village

Project: Black Creek Pioneer Village
Location: Toronto
Cost:
Date: 2000

In order to plan for the ongoing stewardship of the heritage buildings at the Black Creek Pioneer Village site, the Toronto Conservation Authority commissioned GBCA to undertake a detailed study and architectural assessment of eight historic buildings.

GBCA's study, intended as a model for similar studies in future, first established the context for any work (setting down a set of operational conservation guidelines) and reviewed the history of the buildings on site and their integrity as artifacts. Our next step was to review their existing condition, highlighting, prioritizing and costing necessary repairs and finally, the report contained guidelines for on-going maintenance procedures.
