The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO) held their fifth annual Awards Presentation on November 11, 2011 at the historic Arts and Letters Club. Held in conjunction with the ACO annual fundraising dinner, the purpose of the awards is to honour preservation leaders and/or projects that are considered valuable to the architectural conservation movement in Ontario and are on a provincial scale.

GBCA was honored to be recognized with the Peter Stokes Restoration Award for our restoration of the Provincial Offences Court (the original Guelph City Hall) in Guelph, Ontario. The Peter Stokes Restoration Award recognizes those responsible for the exemplary restoration of significant heritage structures, undertaken in accordance with the accepted policies and practices of heritage conservation in Ontario. ACO President, and Guelph resident, Susan Ratcliffe, was generous with her praise of the project, which restored the building to its former glory.

The project was completed as part of the adjoining Civic Administrative Centre designed by Moriyama and Teshima, Architects.
